Thomas Mone

Since 2000, Tom Mone has helped lead OneLegacy, the United State’s largest organ recovery agency, serving 20 million people, 200+ hospitals and 10 transplant centers. Over his tenure, OneLegacy has enabled over 33,000 lifesaving transplants and in the last 12 months, OneLegacy recovered 740 organ donors, enabling 1,940 life-saving transplants, both all-time national records (vs. 274/840 in 1999).

Under Tom’s leadership, OneLegacy developed and was the first OPO in the world to implement: 1) electronic donor records and web-based organ placement systems, 2) real-time nucleic acid testing of all organ donors, 3) the Donate Life California DMV-linked Registry, 4) the Living Donation California Referral program 5) donor coordinator role specialization, 6) Spanish language paid media advertising, 7) multilingual family care staff, 8) the world’s largest tissue recovery program, and 9) the world’s largest public promotion of donation by creating the Donate Life Rose Parade Float that has 100+ national and international partners, seen by 30 million+ people each year, with as many as 2.5 billion impressions, and created the Global Leadership Symposium to share donation best practices worldwide.

Tom also oversaw the development of the OneLegacy Redlands and Azusa Transplant Donor Recovery Centers that enable 30% more life-saving transplants than traditional hospital-based practices. Over his tenure, OneLegacy’s staff increased from 50 to 500 and Net Assets grew from $2 million to $150 million.
